Tips for roasting your own Green Kona Coffee:

There are many methods for home roasting, and we’re sure you have your favorite, but one idea you may want to keep in mind is a stovetop popper roaster. There are two reasons you may select such a roaster for our green Kona, one, it’s a lot cheaper on average than many devices out there, and two, you can roast a lot more per batch than most more expensive air or drum roasters out there. And, knowing you won’t be able to get enough of our lovely Kona coffee green; we feel you’ll appreciate roasting more at a time.

Another excellent advantage for using a stovetop popper roaster with our green Kona coffee is that, though cheaper, you still have the precise control of a drum roaster. So you can go for something straightforward and roast an espresso bean, or be imaginative and try to add whatever flavors you like to the excellent base ingredient we offer.

Things to keep in mind while roasting your own

While a stovetop popper offers the ability to roast more of our green Kona coffee beans per time, if you’re an amateur at the home-roast thing we recommend that you start by roasting very small amounts at a time. This is a trial and error art, and it may take a few tries before you discover at exactly what temperature and roasting duration you reach the perfect final product for you. Some tips to be mindful of—while roasting, wait until you’ve heard each green Kona coffee bean pop, just like when cooking popcorn on the stove, and you’ve reached at least a medium roast. The more you let each bean pop the darker the roast. Lastly, once you’ve decided to remove the beans from and set them out do not leave them out for any more than an hour. They will begin to lose their flavor if you haven’t manages to seal them away by then. With these tips in mind, we know you coffee virtuosos out there enjoy the personal reward of drinking your own brew and we know you’ll enjoy that much more using our authentic green Hawaiian Kona coffee! Happy roasting!
