  • When brewing, use the purest filtered water. Buy distilled water if your tap water is cloudy. This will ensure that your Kona coffee decaf’s flavor finishes clean, as well as full-bodied.
  • Do not over-grind your decaf Kona coffee. For espresso varieties use a fine grind. For regular brew, ground your beans until they have the appearance of small crystals. Do not rely on the number setting of your grinder; work in pulses until your Kona coffee decaf reaches the perfect consistency.

Brew our decaf Kona coffee with a French press pot. Changing your brewing method can result in unique flavors from your decaf Kona coffee; this method enhances the roasted flavor of the grinds. If you don’t have a French press, they’re relatively inexpensive and easy to use. When using your French press, use clean filtered water and small crystal-like grounds. If your grounds are too fine, you might get a silt-like effect in the bottom of your pot.  Here’s a tip you may not find in a French press manual; after you’ve poured the boiled water over the grounds and it has steeped for a few minutes, take a wooden spoon and gently stir the grounds four to six times.
